Privacy Policy
The short version
- We collect what we need to run Collo: your account details, what you share, and how you use the site.
- Your sets, photos and profile are public. Your email and password are not.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run advertising trackers.
- You can ask us to delete your account and content at any time.
The full policy below explains the details.
This policy explains what information Collo collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It applies to our website and to the Clip to Collo browser extension (together, the “Service”). In this policy, “Collo,” “we” and “us” mean the operator of the Service.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, username, email address and password. Passwords are stored in a scrambled form that we cannot read.
- Profile: your photo and bio, if you add them.
- What you share: sets, photos, captions, comments, tags, uploaded and clipped pieces, and the store links you add.
- Messages to us: anything you send through our contact page, including your name, email address and message.
Information from how you use Collo
- Activity: things like likes, saves, follows, community memberships and challenge entries.
- Shopping clicks: when you click “View item” or “Shop,” we record which piece and post it came from, and your account if you are logged in. This helps us understand which finds people love.
- Visit statistics: when you open a page, Collo records which page it was, the website that sent you (if any), your country, your device and browser type, and an anonymous code that changes every day so we can count visitors. Collo does not save your IP address in its records, does not use cookies for this, does not use third-party analytics, and skips tracking if your browser sends a Do Not Track signal. These records are kept for up to six months.
- Technical information: your internet address and browser details are processed by our hosting providers to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
Cookies
Collo uses one essential cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy.
2. The Clip to Collo extension
The extension only looks at a web page when you click its icon. It reads the product name, brand, link and photos on that page so you can choose what to clip. It sends only the photo you choose, and the name, brand, category and page link you confirm, to your Collo account. It does not track your browsing, and it does not collect anything from pages you do not clip.
3. How we use information
- To run Collo: show your profile and posts, power the feed, communities, challenges and the Closet, and keep your account secure.
- To keep the community safe, enforce our Terms, and respond to reports and takedown requests.
- To answer your messages and send important notices about your account.
- To improve Collo, for example by learning which features people use.
4. What is public
Your username, name, profile photo, bio, sets, photos, captions, comments, clipped pieces, communities and follower counts can be seen by anyone who visits Collo. Your email address, password and private drafts are not shown to other people.
5. Shopping links and commissions
Some links on Collo lead to other stores, and Collo may earn a commission if you buy. When you click through, the store and any affiliate service it uses may set their own cookies and collect information under their own policies. Collo does not control those sites.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these cases:
- Service providers that help us run Collo, including website hosting, backend and database hosting, and image storage and delivery. They may only use your information to provide their services to us.
- The public, for the content you choose to post, as described above.
- When the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of our members and the Service.
- A future owner, if Collo is ever merged with or acquired by another company, in which case we will tell you.
7. How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete a post, it is removed from the site. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete your profile and content, except for anything we are required to keep for legal reasons or that remains briefly in backups.
8. Your choices
- You can edit your profile, and delete your posts and drafts, whenever you like.
- You can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, or delete your account, through our contact page.
- You can remove the Clip to Collo extension at any time from your browser's extensions page.
9. Security
We protect your information with encrypted connections, scrambled passwords and access controls. No service can be completely secure, so please choose a strong, unique password.
10. Children
Collo is for people who are at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Where information is processed
Collo and its providers may process your information in the United States and other countries where those providers operate.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Collo grows. If we make significant changes, we will let you know on the Service before they take effect.
